C.T. Entertainments is based in Newtownards Co. Down and is both a supplier and manager of quality entertainment acts. The company is owned and managed by Cecil Thompson, who is ably assisted by Pat his administrative assistant.
CT has been a driving force in the entertainment business in Ireland for many years, not just as a promoter and manager, but also as an advisor to various venues on how to best to promote their premises by entertainment or otherwise. Cecil is currently the entertainments advisor to the Hastings Hotel Group, which is Irelands premier hotel group, showing his standing in the business. During the last 30 years Cecil has built up an enormous list of contacts within the business, and can find and provide any act that you require.
Cecil believes in doing the job right, and that is why, when you book through CT, you get the assurance of knowing that the act you have booked, will be the act that turns up, at the agreed fee, for the agreed duration. Nothing is left to chance.
History
C.T. Entertainments was first established by Cecil Thompson (C.T.) in the early 70s. Cecil had been promoting local venues during the Show Band days and decided to make a go of it as a promoter. Very soon Cecil was promoting 25-30 local halls in Fermanagh and decided to go province wide. Uprooting his organisation to first Larne and then Belfast, Cecil managed to put together a roster of bands which was the envy of every other promoter. Having put forward a local act called Sunshine to Opportunity Knocks in the late 70s, the band managed to win the show 8 times and were soon very well known throughout Ireland establishing both the band and the promoter throughout the country. Maxamillion were another of C.T.s bands to have TV success in the early 80s and soon C.T. Entertainments was the premier agency in Northern Ireland. The signing of "Paris" was another significant milestone in C.T.s career as they quickly became the No.1 Dance act throughout Ireland and spent many years as the biggest drawing Dance act in the country. C.T.s latest batch of acts are of the same high quality that has been synonymous with the CT camp, and you can see and hear for yourself in this website.
For some of you older people who frequented the Tuesday night gigs at the Stormont Hotel, where CT showcased many of his, and other promoter's bands, you most likely handed over your money to CT in person, as he usually stood at the door and stayed on the premises for the gig to ensure the smooth running of the evening. This venue is one of many, but fondly remembered by those who used to attend, and goes to show the quality of the acts and functions for which CT has become known
